Heathrow Airport Holdings Ltd formerly BAA Limited, is the Spanish-owned operator of five British airports (including Heathrow Airport) and Naples Airport in Italy, making the company one of the largest transport companies in the world.

Harcourt Matthews were invited to support BAA during a specific recruitment drive and also in subsequent resourcing for talented candidates across 3 airports in the South East - Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted.

During a period of business transformation, BAA required Harcourt Matthews to resource high-calibre individuals to take on commercially focused finance roles and work closely with the airport senior management team to support decision-making processes. BAA had historically used a Preferred Supplier List (PSL), which had proven unsuccessful in recruiting suitable individuals for their commercial finance jobs & vacancies.

This situation gave Harcourt Matthews an opportunity to support their South East England recruitment programme, and a long-term opportunity to establish a credible reputation providing reliable talented finance professionals to BAA, which led to Harcourt Matthews becoming a preferred supplier to the business.

We supported HR and Finance in a recruitment needs analysis and having established the needs of the organisation, Several key objectives were highlighted, including:

    • Development & replenishment of the existing teams, owing to people migrating into projects and the increase in depth of capability & calibre of individuals within the organisation which has under gone rapid growth and business transformation
    • Identifying commercially and technically focused individuals to evolve best practice in Accounting & Finance, specifically in planning & analysis, forecasting, reporting, commercial financial control

Harcourt Matthews has established several recruitment campaigns and range of candidate sourcing processes to attract a wide range of candidate types encompassing:

  • Accessing our network & extensive CV database, existing contacts and gaining new referrals / recommendations
  • Accessing several jobsite CV databases covering the active UK candidate market
  • Advertising on several job boards
  • Using our internal resourcers and several 3rd party outsourced research businesses contracted to identify and to supply scarce candidate resource (passive & non active people)
  • Specific sector headhunting campaigns complementing the above approach
  • Direct mail-shot programmes to specific accounting & finance trained CIMA, ACCA and ACA individuals who fulfilled the accounting & finance job specification & brief

This has resulted in the successful recruitment of several qualified accountants & part qualified accountants for both permanent and interim & temporary assignments for the UK business.
