  • This question is not illegal and is a perfectly understandable question for an interviewer to ask when the interviewer assumes that you would be happy with a small uplift on your current salary
  • Most interviewers do not wish to negotiate with you as they are not good negotiators – they prefer HR or the agency to do this
  • The employer has a budget and therefore knows specifically what salary can be considered for the role
  • Both parties often feel that they shouldn’t divulge their expectations. Whilst being the first to “show your cards” can be seen as “weakening your negotiating power”, its is also a sign that you are not a secretive individual

Job searching in the winter can be a daunting task, with the weather being bleak and motivation running low. In many ways, the struggles of job hunting can be likened to the challenges faced by the characters in Game of Thrones, as they battle the elements and their own personal demons. Despite the hardships, there are valuable lessons to be learned from the characters of this epic series, and in this blog, we will explore how you can stay motivated and resilient in your job search, even in the depths of winter.

The Winter Blues and Job Searching
Winter can bring about a range of challenges when it comes to finding a job. The shorter days, colder weather, and general feeling of hibernation can make it harder to stay motivated and focused on your job search. Bide your time and work with your current CFO to forge a strong relationship to put you in pole position for when they leave.

Its been a few weeks since I added to the blog (we’ll blame holidays and sheer laziness for that) but I’m pleased to publish the latest in my 80’s nostalgia recruitment comparison blog – I think I need to come up with a catchier title!

Today, it’s The A-Team! I would like to be clear that this will be the original The A-Team, not the 2010 film remake. Whilst I do really like that film and I felt the characters stayed remarkably close to the originals, this is an 80’s nostalgia blog so only Mr. T et al will be considered here!

Recruitment consultants can be a mixed bunch of characters – some memorable, some less so. But have you ever thought about which A-Team character your recruitment consultant compares to? Of course you haven’t, but that’s what we’re going to do now.

Prepare to meet characters who not only resemble the beloved show’s icons but also have classic catchphrases to match. Let’s roll out the black van and get started!

This may be another link to the world of recruitment. A film revolving around ALF (the job-seeker) was not a success but a tv programme that developed the relationship with ALF and various supporting cast members over 4 years made it one of the most beloved sitcoms of a generation.
