A leading global consulting group is seeking an Associate Director to join its globally regarded legal engineering practice. This is a senior role for an experienced legal or consulting professional who is motivated by purpose-led work, collaborative leadership and shaping the future of legal services through technology, people and process.
The role works closely with law firms and in-house legal teams, helping them redesign how legal services are delivered, improve efficiency and embed GenAI responsibly and sustainably.
Key Responsibilities of the Associate Director - Legal Engineer
- Lead the design and delivery of legal engineering and transformation programmes for clients across multiple industries
- Translate legal processes into scalable, automated workflows using legal tech and low-code platforms
- Manage and mentor multidisciplinary teams (lawyers, developers, data analysts, consultants)
- Advise clients on legal operating models, technology strategy, and innovation roadmaps
- Oversee implementation of tools such as CLM systems, document automation, AI solutions, and workflow platforms
- Drive business development activities, including proposals, client pitches, and thought leadership
- Build senior client relationships and act as a trusted advisor to General Counsel and Legal Ops leaders
Skills & Attributes of the Associate Director - Legal Engineer
- Legal services expertise: Demonstrated experience within legal practice or legal functions, with a strong grasp of legal frameworks, processes, and workflows. Ability to identify and accelerate AI-driven opportunities within legal processes, and critically assess outputs to continuously enhance quality and performance
- Process improvement capability: Strong analytical mindset with experience re-engineering legal processes, including embedding AI and automation to improve efficiency and outcomes
- Technology and AI fluency: Solid grounding in legal technology and emerging AI tools, with the ability to design and deploy workflows and automation solutions using low-code/no-code platforms (no advanced programming required)
- Programme delivery & collaboration: Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional initiatives, with excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder engagement across both legal and technical teams
- Change & adoption: Experience designing and delivering change initiatives, including training and communications strategies, to drive successful adoption of new technologies and ways of working
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills: Ability to lead and develop a team, build credibility with senior clients and internal stakeholders, and support business development through identifying and converting growth opportunities.
