We’re working with a fast-growing professional services business that is experiencing strong growth and is hiring a Head of Legal Operations to lead and optimise operational strategy across their firm. This is a high-impact role for a commercially minded legal operations expert who enjoys improving efficiency, implementing new systems, and driving change across multiple legal workstreams.
You'll be the right hand to the COO and leadership team—owning everything from budgeting and vendor management to legal technology, reporting, and process design. The business is scaling quickly, so this is an opportunity to shape how the firm delivers services to their clients.
Key Responsibilities of the Head of Legal Operations
- Own and lead the legal operations strategy in alignment with legal and business goals
- Introduce and manage legal tech tools, matter management systems, and automation
- Lead financial planning, budget management and external counsel spend optimisation
- Improve processes for contract lifecycle, matter intake, reporting, and knowledge management
- Build dashboards and implement KPIs to track legal team performance and ROI
- Collaborate closely with Legal, Finance, IT, Procurement, and Compliance teams
- Lead or support projects relating to ESG, risk, governance or transformation
Skills & Attributes of the Head of Legal Operations
- Experience in legal operations, business support services or legal project management from a law firm, professional services consultancy or inhouse legal team
- Background in legal, compliance or professional services highly desirable
- Proven ability to improve processes, manage projects, and introduce new systems
- Strong financial and commercial acumen
- Confident working at pace and engaging with senior stakeholders
- Confident leadership skills, managing a large team across multiple locations
