Key Responsibilities of the Commercial Finance Analyst
· Be the Go-To for Finance: Acts as the main point of contact for any finance questions, pulling together monthly KPIs and easy-to-follow insights on what’s driving profit.
· Turn Numbers into Stories: Prepares clear, meaningful analysis to help the business make smart decisions — from monthly results to spotting trends and forecasting what’s next.
· Spot Issues & Make Things Better: Keeps an eye on how the team’s doing against targets, flags problems early, and helps come up with practical ways to boost performance.
· Tackle Ad Hoc Questions: Handles all sorts of finance-related queries from Partners and other teams, using strong Excel and Tableau skills to get the right answers fast.
· Support Planning & Present Results: Works with Managers and Partners on budgets and forecasts, and pulls together clear reports and slides for senior meetings and reviews.
Skills & Attributes of the Commercial Finance Analyst
· Fully or partly qualified: Holds a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or similar) or studying towards one.
· Professional Services Know-How: Has some experience in a law firm or another professional services environment.
· Comfortable with the Data: Confident analysing figures, explaining performance, and predicting what’s ahead.
· Great Communicator: Comfortable chatting with senior stakeholders and making complex info clear and useful.
· Tech-Savvy: Advanced Excel user, confident with Tableau (or keen to learn), and knows how to build sharp presentations in PowerPoint.
